I am running Windows 2000 and all of a sudden when i launch
Internet Explorer, my memory spikes and my cpu jumps. It
takes IE6 almost 3 minutes to launch and it uses over 315MB
of memory. My machine has 1 gig of memory. How can i reduce
this?

Had the same problem on my son's PC. It appears that
msgsvr32.dll has some how gotten corrupted. When I "kill"
it, PC runs like a top. Reboot and "kill" that process
and see if that takes care of it. Only thing is, if it
does, you have to do this every time you reboot or fix the
problem. We rarely shut down, so it is not a big deal to
us!

Rule out parasites.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
