Memory Leak Problem with Scan

R

rick

I've tried running the scan on my computer and when it gets
to the registry scan section, specifically,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GATOR.COM\DYN\AUTOUPDATE, I get
an out memory message on the screen that MS is going to
expand memory and what it does is kill the system. In
fact, I've tried opening Windows Task Manager while doing a
scan and that seems to kill the system also. I have 512gb
of memory on my computer. Has anyone else had this
problem? One last note, I've tried manually remove the
above and can't seem to do it - both in safe and regular
mode. Any help there would greatly be apriciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Hi

- Send a spywarereport to MS about this, menu tools.

- Try Lavasofts Adaware

I too, get a low virtual warning at some point during the
scan. I don't know at what point as it runs itself on a
schedule. I have XP,, Dell with 128meg..nothing else

Hi

128MB is too little memory I think.

But:

Try to remove all autostart programs you dont need.

Keep only MS default settings for all, no thirdparty special
tweaks.

Upgrade to SP2 and use built in firewall, no thirdparty.

Don´t use Nortons resource eating programs

Clean all junk with this tool.

Frank,

Does the memory error happen at a certain part of the scan
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GATOR.COM\DYN\AUTOUPDATE?

I get the Virtual Memory too, and the machine I am running it on is
configured with 512 MBs of RAM. It could possibly be a bug, and you do have
the minmum amount of ram required to run MSAS. Here is a link to configurng
Virtual Memory in XP:

Andre, to change VM is only cosmetic....... ;) Let Windows
handle this !

And you must visit Amha.s ER !!! ;) You wrote it took 15
minutes
to start your machine !?

No Plun, you are confusing what I said. I said Microsoft AntiSpyware takes
15 minutes to start up in my system. Meaning, when I double click on the
executable, either from the desktop, programs group or system tray, it takes
15 minutes to start up.

ccleaner, found 400 problems. Ran ccleaner again found
200 problems. Ran ccleaner again ZERO problems. Ran MSAS,
got low virtual mem. warning at file 11587,
c\:windows\$ntservicepackuninstall.....MSAS has not found
a problem since I ran it the very first time when it
found 5 problems. The low vm warning is not a problem
just seems like it shouldn't be happening

Well, this is probably normal.

If you restart I think you can come trough, 128 MB memory
is really little for this. Scanning takes a lot of resources.

Memory error occurs at the same spot everytime I run the
scan! Like I said, I've tried to delete the file from the
registry in safe mode - No Luck, the file is locked
somehow. ???
