memory access violation

Can anyone tell me, simply, what this means, & what I do
about it? I've spent about 100 mins trying to get in
contact with some one or something to put it right & got
nowhere.

If this happens when the system is starting, then you have the Swen worm,

Clue: Microsoft does not distribute updates or patches via e-mail. You
likely recently received and installed one of these faked support emails.
