Memorex High Speed 16X DVD-ROM

I have windows XP home installed on my computer. I did the SP2 update and every since, my memorex dvd-rom drive is not working correctly. Every time I have a disk installed and double click on the drive it says: "Please insert disk in drive E. I went to the Memorex website and did their firmware update, but the drive is still not working. It is listed in the device manager and working and having no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In device mgr.,you can uninstall the device,then close-out,shut-down
computer.On restarting,xp will reinstall it. And/or,if you have an intel
based
board,go to intels web,downloads,chip-set,download and install the
application
accelerator,this has the drivers for the IDE drives and cd/dvd/rom/rw drives.
You should install the chipset installation software 1st (same section).
 
Thank you for the advice. I tried it, but it did not work. There was no
chipset download update for my application accellerator. I really
appreciated the advice.
