DVD rom problems

I have a new Memorex DVD 16x rom (primary) and Nu Tech DVD burner (slave). If
I
insert a cd or dvd into the dvd rom the disk will auto play like it's
supposed to, however if I replace that cd/dvd with another windows locks up.
I don't have that problem with the dvd burner though. I've tried replacing
that drive with an older dvd drive and also with a different burner and the
results have been the same. This becomes a real problem if I am installing a
program that has multiple cd's. I have also tried turning autoplay on and off
and it has no effect. Has anyone encountered this problem and fixed it?

Try swapping it so the burner is the master and the regular drive is the
slave. Then update the chipset (motherboard drivers). Now, remove both
drives from Device Manager (Start-Run-devmgmt.msc) by right clicking on
the drives and clicking uninstall, then reboot after doing this.
Hopefully this will fix your problem.
