MediaPlayer Freezes when Streaming

I discovered a few weeks ago that anytime I try to watch a streaming .avi or .wma on the web usining MediaPlayer, my computer comletely freezes up. No Keyboard, no mouse, no function key--nothing.
I am forced to reboot manually. (UGH
I upgraded to the latest Media Player, but still no good

However, I can play any of these files, (plus all other MediaPlayer files) when they are saved to my desktop. It's just the streaming content
This is especially bad when I hit pages that have a small streaming wma embedded in the page. Suddenly I'm helpless

Any ideas

Oh, I'm using Windows 2000 Professional with all the latest packs and patches

Unfortunately, I don't have a suggestion, but I have precisely the sam
problem. The freeze happens with any streaming video, RealVideo
Windows Media, etc. I notice it particularly on pages with embedde
streaming video. Hope someone can help us!
