Media plays too fast!

This is one I haven't encountered before – I recently rebuilt someone’s PC
with W2000 – all standard stuff – and everything is exactly as expected,
except that some AVI videos play too fast (like somebody had pressed fast
forward!) in Media Player.

Also, the characters’ voices in some of his games speak in the same way, ie
high-pitched and fast.

Could this be a DirectX issue? If not, has anyone got any other suggestions?
In 15 years working withy computers, I've never seen it before.

Thanks

I've seen this before.
I solved it by going to the website of the motherboard/sound card/video
card manufacturer (depending on what you're using for sound and video)
and downloading and installing the latest drivers for the hardware
you're using.

John
