Media Player issues

Got a new laptop running XP Media Center Edition. Upgraded Media Player from
9 to 10, then added Plus! Superpack which (I think) made some changes to the
player. Before adding the Superpack I could:
Update the player
Play sample files from Amazon.com through my Firefox browser
Minimize the music player to the "miniplayer" in the taskbar

Now, none of these things work correctly. Any ideas? If you need more info
to help me let me know. Thanks!

Actually, I've tried that. Setup begins but will not finish. I get an error
message telling me "There is a more recent version of Media player running
and setup cannot continue."

I've tried uninstalling Media player but I can't. I can only remove access
from the start menu.

Right, you don't want to reinstall the player unless you really have to.
(This is a change of logic from v9....)

If you run:
regsvr32 wmpasf.dll
regsvr32 wmpdxm.dll
regsvr32 wmp.dll
, does that help at all... ?

um, zach? How 'zackly do I do that? I like to think I know a little about
computers and I often pretend to know more than I do.. but really, I don't.
I have no idea how to do this other than bringing up the "run" dialog box and
typing in what you wrote. I tried..that doesn't work. Says that file
doesn't exsist.

You did exactly, right. I figured you'd figure it out. =)

What exact error did you get? That regsvr32 or which of the WMP files
errored... ?

If you look in your c:\windows\system32 directory, are those files there?

Okay now this is just weird. But I'll take it! I searched for the files in
the directory and they were all there. So I tried the "run" command again on
wmpasf.dll. Didn't work. Said it was a system file and I shouldn't mess
with it but I was going to anyway except my only choice was "open with" and I
had no idea. So, I tried again but this time I tried regsvr32 wmp.dll and it
worked! You sir are a genious! (I know that's spelled incorrectly but I'm
trusting you to be a gentleman and not notice. ;)

Thanks!
