Media Player 11

Just recently, I noticed that Media Player is not able to replay
automatically any mpeg file. The first time the mpeg file plays, everything
is ok. The second time the mpeg plays, the video is garbled.

If I changed performance parameters, the file will play fine one more time.
Then thereafter, the video from the mpeg file becomes garbled.

I tried going back on recovery but the problem persists.

The problem does not happen with other file types, e.g. avi, etc, when using
Media Player 11.

I used the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup utility and it shows various
decoders but none were selected as the preferred. I selected the mpeg-2 CODEC
and the utility indicates the codec is not compatible with the sync feature
of Media Player 10... I am using Version 11 that comes with Vista Premium.

I tried installed a couple o codec packs hoping that would fix the problem.
But they didn't so I uninstalled them. e.g. DivX, Klite.

Somehow my mpeg codec files, and I am not certain if there is more than one,
have become suspect.

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC DV9317
AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-52 1.6GHz, 1GB ram, 32 bit Vista Premium with Service
Pack 1

The problem occurs even no other programs are loaded.

I downloaded gomplayer and that has no problems in automatically replaying
the mpeg files (same files in questioned).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

If you already got GOM player you don't need Media Player it's a real
bow-wow always has been going way back.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I did download that package but its defaults do not include Mpg-1 or Mpg-2
video formats.

I am curiously as to why you did suggest these filters?

thank you in advance for your assistance.
