MEDIA PLayer 10 will NOT PLay .wav files.... Old problem, no solut

I see Justin's problem request is two weeks old. I have the same problem. WXP
Media Player 10 will play EVERY file I throw at it EXCEPT a .WAV or.PCM if
you will. I understand that .PCM is foundational to a .WAV file.... I have
searched the entire TechNet site and have found that several folks have this
same problem. However, I have found, as they have, no one with a solution to
the problem.

Personally, I think it is an operating system problem. Why. Because I play
with my registry. I was playing and trying to clear out some old installs of
media players, like the one on SourceForge, MediaPlayer2. I x'd some registry
entires; foolishly did not back them up, and quess what, now my Media PLayer
10 running under WXP pro will NOT play ANY of my wave files. ALL my music
data is stored as .WAV files.
I can install another player. I already know the Files are NOT corrupted.
But that is not a very elegant fix to the problem.

SOMEONE help us. Somehow, I dis-sed a registry entry and now I am paying for
it because WMP 10 will not play any sound file remotely resembling a .WAV
file. MP3- no problem. WMA- no problem. Streaming audio- No problem. WAV file
on hard drive or CD Big Problem no PLay.

Please help.
thank you.
