Media Acck error message

When I switch on my computer and Windows XP loads up the following problem
occurs:
If I try to launch a programme the following error message appears:

Media Acck. exe Application error,the application failed to initialize
properly(0xc0000142) click on OK to terminate the application.

When I click on OK the computer will not do anything eg: will not shut down
or launch any programmes and I have to press the restart button on the tower
or switch of altogether.

Could anyone offer any advice.

Try rebooting in safe mode by pushing F8 during start-up. MediaAcck.exe is
adware use this link and download the free version of ad-aware

It's spyware. Get rid of it.

Run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should update
and run them weekly.
