ME to XP software

Earlier this year I purchased Windows XP Professional to
upgrade my Windows 95 OS. I never got around to installing
XP and moved to a computer running Windows ME. Now I have
XP Professional (yet unopened and too far from purchase
date to return) that on the package states "For PC's
without Windows or PC's with Windows 95 or earlier
versions." Can I still use this software to upgrade ME to
XP?

Yes you can, what you have is the full version versus the upgrade version.
Exactly the same except that you won't need to provide proof of ownership of
a previous upgradeable version. Maybe you could find someone interested in
buying your full version as it's usually $100 more than the upgrade.

If this is a retail CD of Windows XP/Full Version, yes. It is capable of
performing an upgrade installation. Both Full and Upgrade versions are
capable of performing a clean install or an upgrade install. The
difference is that the Full Version will complete an installation without
asking for proof of owning a previous version of Windows.

Yes, this will still work. What you purchased was a full
retail version of XP Home, as opposed to an upgrade
version, which is why it indicates for computers with
Windows 95, which is not upgradeable to Windows XP, or
computers without Windows.

Cheers!
