MDAC

[Rick Thering]

I am trying to evaluate XPe for use with a database application. The app
talks to SQL and requires MDAC, but I do not see the Microsoft Data Access
Components listed in my target designer (Embedded XP with SP1 Evaluation).
I have looked in "Software : System : System Services : Application
Support" per a post I had seen, and I have searched for Microsoft Data
Access, as well as each word separate, and MDAC. Any Idea's?

Rick,

It's odd because it's right where you said "Software : System : System
Services : Application
Support" The component is "Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)" with a
visibility of 1000. Maybe for some reason that has changed so you could go
to Tools>Options>Advanced and set your minimum visibility to 100 and see if
that helps. There is also a QFE that affects this component (Q824704) so
maybe look for that in the critical downloads section of
http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/downloads/xp/critqfe/default.aspx.

Brad - You Rock!! I have been looking at this all day. for some reason the
visibility was set to 200.

There is a known issue (bug) with TD that it does not show a component
visibility properly on the right information panel. To see the actual
component's visibility level you will need to right click on the component
item in Component Browser panel, select Properties and read Visibility field
in the Properties dialog. For "Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)" it
is set to 200.
