MCE Remote not working

[Synapse Syndrome]

My remote was working fine until recently. It still appears in Device
Manager, and the lights on the remote and receiver work when I press a
button, but nothing happens in Media Centre.

Does anybody know why the remote has stopped working as it should?

With the computer ON and just in the desktop, Unplug the USB cable and plug
it back in.

Suggestions:-

Check the batteries.

Uninstall from the device manager and restart the system.

Try another USB port.
