i've recently installed mcafee and did a virus scan,
which seemed to be fine, when i re-start my pc i get a
mcafee msg saying; mcafee could not clean
c//windows/winlogon.exe please remove this file and
install a clean version. i need to know 1, what does this
mean and 2, how do i rectify it. thanks in advance.

Delete instances of WINLOGON.EXE then restore it ...Here is how to restore it to your WinXP
OS.

The following assumes the WinXP CDROM is in drive "D:".
Go to; Start --> Run

Type;
expand d:\i386\winlogon.ex_ c:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe
Hit the Enter key.
expand d:\i386\winlogon.ex_ c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\winlogon.exe
Hit the Enter key.
expand d:\i386\winlogon.ex_ c:\windows\system32\dllcache\WINLOGON.EXE
Hit the Enter key.

{ you can copy & paste the above command lines }
