Mcafee firewall????

Hi, does anyone use mcafee, How do I know
what to let have full acess are block,
I usely block any thing that comes up.
I know to leave macfee acsess. I need to know
what windows needs for acess to ineternet.
When windows update scans for update it has to
have acess. what to aloud. Thanks

If you block anything that comes up, then nothing that goes online will
work. Normally you should let any known program that you're purposefully
using access the Internet. It's the unknown software that you have to be
concerned about. If you regularly scan for viruses and run a spyware check
you shouldn't have any surprises.

The programs that need access are Internet Explorer, Outlook
or Outlook Express, the firewall to get updates, your
anti-virus to get updates, Windows Update, other programs
that you install and schedule or manually run.
You don't want or need to grant unlimited permission to very
many programs. Zone Alarm will detect new or changed
programs and pop up an alert. I use McAfee VS but use the
ZA firewall.
