McAfee and Win XP Pro

Hello:

I use McAfee on-line virus protection program, and just recently I was
upgraded to McAfee Virus Scan version 11. After it installed, a error
message appears showing that my computer is no longer protected, and to
re-install virus scan. I have re-installed at least 4 times, with still the
same ultimate notification each time. Also, it is hampering my computer
operations badly; all the programs run extremely slow, if not just freezing
up for long periods of time, even become slower when two programs are open,
and heaven forbid I should try to run three. I run Win XP Pro (version 2002,
SP 2, 1.80 GHz speed (Intel® Celeron® CPU)), I have a Dell PC, I use a DSL
firewall router, and I utilize all windows security updates, and I have IE
Explore with 123-bit security.

Any Help in this issue would be greatly welcomed.

I run XP home and ever since McAfee upgraded me to this new 'thing' my
system runs extremely slow. Really bad indeed.

So something is very wrong now..
Time to drop McAfee.

Hi Mark,

The best advise is to uninstall McAfee and use System Restore to
restore the machine to a time just before it was installed. This should
remove all the crap it installed and restore performance.

Avast antivirus is a very good, free alternative. For more information
