May .log files be deleted?

The Windows directory contains many files with a ".log" extension. Most of
them are related to WindowsXP updates that have been installed in the past.
Is it okay to remove these files or do they serve an ongoing function?

Mike

Do not uninstall files with the ".log" extension. Many of those
files contain information necessary to uninstall programs. Without
the install.log file, you will be unable to uninstall programs in
the future.
