May I remove $WIN_NT$.~BT from C:\ after update

I upgraded my WindowsXP Home OS to WindowsXP Professional, installed all of
the critical updates and all of the WindowsXP updates to my PC. After I
completed this folder remains: C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT.

May I remove this folder now that the upgrade has been completed? I did not
select the "archive" option and was surprised that this folder remained.
The Critical Update process stalled and had to be restarted but other than
that the process was smooth.
