maxtor sata 180 gb and boot disk failure

hi ,
i've a big problem with my new hd.
it's a maxtor diamondmax9 sata 180gb ...it's 4-5 month fo work ...
yesterday while i working with my pc a gigabyte with XP while
i copy files from a partition to another partition (simple operation)
system reboot !!!!!!!! :blush:
at the reboot an horrible message say :
BOOT FROM CD :
BOOT DISK FAILURE INERT SYSTEM DISK ....

i try to boot from xp cd to go in the recovery console but
the HD recognize correctly by the BIOS in not see by other programs...
i try to mount it on another machine .. but nothing ...
i try to reinstall win xp on it but where i aspect to see the HD partition
i read "impossible to retrieve hd" (something like this) ...
onli possible command is "delete partition" if i try this the setup crash
....

what can i do ?
is there any way to recover it ?

it's still under warranty...
so just go to maxtor's website and follow their warranty procedure.
you will need to test the drive first.
the software needed to run the harddrive diagnostic
probably came with the drive...
but if not...you can download it free.

warranty wont get your data back.

perhaps Acronis TrueImage 8 recovery software might,

TrueImage has the ability to create a boot recovery disc. I have found this
software invaluable...........from a totally unreadable (by any other
method) hard disc I recovered 95% of valuable data of the hard drive.

You will obviously need another, working, comp to download and create the
boot disc.

I have no allegiance with Acronis just like software that does what it says
on the box.

for $50 its worth a try plus you got the backup software you should have had
before.

The harddrive has died and the data is not recoverable by reasonable means.
(Yes, for around $1000 a data recovery company could get it back.)

3.If I understood you correctly, did you try to reinstall win xp on your

i've tried with powermax4 doesn't work ...
it tries to load itself and the give me an error ....

i've tried to repair with "hard drive mechanic" but
i can build phisical choose phisical .. but when it tries
to build logical an error say that "fat16 is so damaged" that
it cant repair ....

:-((((((((((

help me please ....

now i will try with several tools like acronis and other but
i think :-(

If the HDD will be opened - most likely your warranty will be void and null

my motherboard cant run powermax ...
it's an nvidia nforce 3 !
i run powermax on another pc and i start to test the HD
the first test "basic test" response with all "passed"
the "advanced full read test" response "failed" and a message
say the perform a backup of the data ....
but how ? if the hd doesnt work ?
