I must be doing something wrong...it installs to IE, and I can't
activate it in Maxthon...any clues?

Same here. It says it supports Googlebar, but I couldn't see how to activate
it. Would also be interested to know.

Same here also.

Does anyone know of a similar tabbed browser that will support the Google
Bar?

In Maxthon, go to the OPTIONS > MAXTHON OPTIONS window.

PLUGINS or ADVANCED > Check "Enable Internet Explorer plugins" (look for
this in the options dialog)

Restart Maxthon.

Go back to the page IE plugins. This will now list compatible plugins. You
can now tick the Google toolbar.

However, enabling IE plugins option is unstable in windows versions other
than 2000 or XP.

You can type anything into the address bar and get a google search. What am
I missing?

Why would you need the google toolbar when you already have aliases and
popup protection?

Well, let's see. How about being able to do backward links, or to move
up a directory (or more) in the Address bar, or search using other
Google services not available from the Search Bar, like Groups and
Images and Site Search? Also there's a rudimentary form filler (which
admittedly I don't use), translation of pages and the ability to
highlight on a page the current search terms.

All of these can be accomplished by using web pages and other (mostly
freeware) software, but instead of littering a hard drive with scads of
little overspecialized apps, I prefer a single multi-talented product
that works well, is relatively unobstrusive and has a minimal memory
footprint.

Maxthon already does most of the above.

But your point is well taken. Use what you wish and have fun.

It didn't look like that was a tabbed browser.

Trust me it is...I've been using it for a few years and actually prefer it
over Maxthon. YMMV

Okay. I'll give it a try.

You're tricky. It took me a while to figure out the tabs are at the bottom.
Thanks, so far it looks good.

You can move them to the top. It's highly customizable.
