1 - What is a good design target for max page size so pages load OK on 56k
dial-up connections?

2 - Any way to have Front Page 2k tell me how big the page is including all
HTML and graphics?

3 - What about if you are using the Ad Rotator Applet in FP... does it
download all graphics before it starts working?

thanks,

Hi TMB,

Most 56 kb modems will only handle 4800 kb or about 480 bytes / characters per secound. How long are you willing to sit waiting for
a page to download?

The generally accepted rule of thumb is that after waiting 10 seconds for
engaging content, the click-through rate will rise significantly. On a
typical 56k dialup (at 4K/sec practical throughput) this translates to
40-45K, which includes the page code, all images and rollovers, and all
externally linked files.
