max length of cable for external usb drive

I'm getting a AMS VENUS DS-2316CBK External USB Drive enclosure and
wanted to find out if anyone knew what the maximum usb 2 cable length
could be used for this device (that works reliably) ? I'd like to get
a 15' usb 2 cord but wasn't sure if this might be exceeding its limits.

I had issues with an external HDD (Agrosy 360) and a 2m cable that
vanished as soon as I switched back to the .8m cable it came with.

May or may not be an issue with your enclosure.

Thats legal, the legal length is 5M, a shade more than that.
