Master Volume control keeps changing.

I have downloaded many piano pieces from the
internet and when I play them I have to first
go to the "Master Volume" dialogue and then
increase the "SW Synth" slider.

I have to do this when ever each is played
and for every time I play them!

Is there some way to set this property for a
whole folder so this has to be done once
only?

Please help, Frank
 
I download songs from the P2P thing and the
file types are variable.

The same thing happens when I download TV
movies via my HD aerial to the HDD.

Well some players use the "Wave" control to adjust volume, some use the
"Master" to do it, some, like the old Sonique give you a choice of which to
use in their settings. I'm not sure where the SW Synth comes in for playing
things like video.

That was one reason I asked what player is in use.

I think perhaps you have a damaged sound card driver. I haven't seen this
behavior before so let's see if anyone else recognizes it. Something seems
to be resetting this control - whatever and you may need to find what sound
hardware you have to get drivers.
