Master Browser

Hi, I am having a strange problem. I just installed
WinXP for a user in our Atlanta office. It's a brand new
build with all the service packs/updates installed.
However, (and this only happens to our laptops) I had to
change the registry key
HKLM_System_ControlSet001_Services_Browser_Paramaters_Main
tainServerList to "No" instead of "Auto". For some
reason on our laptops whenever this is set to auto the
laptops for some reason try to become the master browser
for the domain. When you do this it usually kills the
computer browser service when the pc starts, but thats a
whole other problem. I need to remotely manage the pc so
I instructed someone to change the value back to auto and
reboot the pc. Now the Computer Browser service starts
back up but I still cannot remotely manage the pc. I
can't even map to the machine, the only thing I'm capable
of doing is pinging it. (I can't map the ip address
either). I'm in Connecticut and I logged onto our
Atlanta server and created a static wins entry for the
laptop and I can now manage that pc from that server
only. Even other pc's on the same subnet cannot see the
pc. Any ideas???
