I have a document that I open with the Word viewer and now evertime I open
Word the Markup view is on, very annoying. Can someone tell me how to shut
this off for good. (I know laugh all you want because nothing in Word 2003
stays the same.)

View | Markup is on by default so that you do not accidentally send a
document with your changes and comments in it to someone else, as has
frequently happened to great embarrassment and cost. Turning off View |
Markup does not remove the changes, it only makes them temporarily
invisible until the next time the document is opened.

I believe Tools | Options | Security has a checkbox to make markup not
default, but this risks the chance that you will send private
information outside of your company. If you want to actually get rid of

Look at Office button | Word Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings |
Privacy Options.
