Mapping a password protected network drive

B

Bob

I'm trying to map a network drive to a password protected
folder. The machine is running XP Pro SP1a. Other PC's
that are running XP Pro SP1a & SP2 are connecting fine.
In fact, I can create a new profile on the problem PC & it
connects with her password OK. The problem user can
connect to a network drive that is NOT password protected,
but not to the one that is. This user was created as a
system administrator on the PC. I think that the problem
is within her profile or credentials, but I can't locate
what setting is causing the problem. Any help
appreciated. Thanks, Bob

can you map the drive if using net use h: //sharedfolder /u:username
password (username is her logon id and password is her password).

Perhaps the problem user's profile has cached an incorrect password
for the password protected folder.

Log into her profile, go to Control Panel | User Accounts, click her
account, click "Manage my network passwords", and remove any saved
password for the password protected folder.

Steve & Robert,

I tried both NET USE and checked her cached network
passwords (she had none). Both of these didn't work.

Do you think there may be a problem with the registry or
could her Dell PDA with active sync be a problem?

Thanks, Bob
