Mapped Drives

Hello

One of our businesses has a windows 2000 professional PC acting as the
server. They are very limited with funds. All PCs are on a workgroup. I
recently installed the only Windows XP PC (all the rest are win98). However,
when the user logs onto the Windows XP PC, it keeps asking for a username and
password box to access the mapped drives each time she first logs on. Then it
is ok until she logs on again.

Could it be that the logon credentials for that user on the Windows XP PC
are different to those on the server, i.e. she is logging on XP as
'firstnamelastname', but her credentials on the server I found out later are
'firstname.lastname' with the '.' in the middle?

I didn't have access to the server as the room was locked by the manager who
wasn't around. That particular user it appears has given me possible
incorrect logon info.

Or is this a common issue with XP client and 2000 acting as the server?

Many thanks
Jeff

That's one of the problems with a workgroup environment, the username AND
password must be exactly the same on both systems (the "server" and the
"client").
