Mapped Drives Revisited

I have a small domain, mixed 2000 and XP. I have about 15 XP users. 2 have
the same problem I am asking about.

After mapping t: to a server share, these 2 users all of a sudden have
mapped drives K - Z. All of these except T: are showing as disconnected.
However when opened it shows the contents of the mapped drive T:

I have tried various fixes, unmapping T:, Symantec 10. fix regarding quick
scans, checked the registry for them In addition I ahev tried several cmd
prompt commands I found in other posts for others with similar problems.
Please Help!

Thanks - Ken

I'm guessing that the computers already had 'persisitent' drives mapped in
Explorer, and the act of connecting T: gave the credentials needed to
re-connect them.

The 'disconnection' is a feature of Windows networking, particularly when a
non-server-grade OS is the target of the mapping. It normally doesn't cause
problems, but if it does there is a registry-fix.

NET USE at a command-prompt will tell you exactly what connections have been
made.

One of these systems was just rebuilt when the problem occured. I mapped the
one drive and soon after there ;were plenty more. I will check net use and
see what is listed. I tried net use k: /delete but it would not disconnect,
something about there not being a drive connected there....

It's also possible the mappings might be the result of a group policy, or a
login script. I assume you've checked these possibilities?

I have checked those things as well. I am beginning to think that it may not
be a MS problem. I am looking further into the possiblity that it invoves
Symantec Anti-virus or Webroot Spysweeper.
