Windows 2000 sp4 logging on to NT4(sp6)server Mapped dives
show a red X as if they are disconnected, yet they are.
Made a registry change increase the idle timeout for
mapped drives problem still exists.

.

I have this same problem between two Win2k workstations.
Even if I open the shared drive in Explorer and examine
the folders on that drive, the Red X shows even on an open
shared drive. I have 16 shared drives on this workstation
and this problem shows on all of them.

Both the local wrokstation and the host station have SP4
installed.

Yet, from another win2k workstation with SP4 installed,
this problem doesn't exist.

How can I solve this problem?

It's only a display issue, not a connection issue. As soon as you
attempt to access the drive it reconnects, sometimes the X sticks
around.

For us it's one of those silly things you ignore.
