'Helpppppppppp,

I have a new notebook that uses Vista Ultimate as it's O/s and had the trial
of Office 2007 pre-loaded.

Upon expiration of the trial I deleted it and wished to use my 2003 pro
edition and so far all the components are working fine except for Outlook.

I can't access Outlook at all, I keep getting a dialog box stating that ......
'Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot initialize Microsoft Office
shared shared utilities. Restart your computer or reinstall Microsoft Office
Outlook.

Assistance greatly appreciated!!

If you had Office 2007 on this workstation and rolled back to Office 2003,
then you need to rename the MSMAPI32.DLL file at \Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033. Once that's done, do a detect and repair.

Hi Hal,
thanks for your reply but sorry I'm a tad tech illiterate... you said to
rename the MSMAPI32.DLL but to what do I rename it to?

I found the .dll by using the format you mentioned but I'm unable to change
it .... security permissions and such, that I know I can change .

You rename it to ANYTHING but MSMAPI32.DLL. The whole point is to give it a
different name so Detect and Repair cant find it and replaces it with a
fresh copy. You can also simply delete it.
