MAPI32.DLL messed up in Outlook2007 after 10/13/6 autoupdate

I originally installed outlook 2007 Beta2 over Office 2003 and then did
technical refresh to the latest version.

Last night (10/13/2006) it appears the Office 2003 updater automatically
downloaded and installed updates for office 2003 (I can see that it did in my
application log), even though it should have been superseeded by 2007. Now
Outlook 2007 it throwing the error message that MAPI32.DLL is the wrong
version.

What is the best route to fix this?

Also is there a way to prevent office from doing this again as it appears
the office 2003 and 2007 people need to communicate before releasing these
autoupdates.

Try running Office Diagnostics from the Start menu.

It now works.

After trying everything I could. MS Office Diagnostics, No problems found, I
Removed all of the updates from 10-11-06.

No luck.

I paid $1.50 to redownload office 2007 beta. Now everthing now works in
Outlook 2007 beta.

Now should I install Vista? What should I do first?

appearsYes and no.
You still have Outlook 2003 installed, due to a bug in the Office 2007
Beta 2 Setup program. If you run the Office 2003 setup, you can manually
remove Outlook 2003 then. Be sure to run a repair of Office 2007
afterwards (and I would recommend doing this before installing the TR).
However, things will happen when you install 2003 patches (not as severe
as the MAPI32.DLL problem though). It's one of the problems when you
have Office 2003 and 2007 installed in parallel. Installing 2003 patches
triggers the 2003 setup, which will reset a bunch of things from 2007 to
2003. Office Diagnostics, a 2007 program, should fix those issues.
