map local shared folder as a drive without being connected to netw

Is there a way to map a local shared folder as a drive without being
connected to a network? When I am connected to our office domain network, I
can do it, but when disconnected (or when not connected to any network), I
cannot. Mapping a local folder to a drive like this is useful when I take
work home on my laptop and I don't have the office network L-drive (not
connected to network) but still want files that reference the L-drive to be
located. And this can be done if when not connected to the office network, I
can map a locally shared folder as the L-drive and reconstruct the required
folder structure and files (locally) which in essence would emulate our
office network drive/folder/files, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Use the Subst command. Try "subst /?" for instructions. Write a batch file to
automate use of Subst.
