Map a network drive to an FTP server?

Is it possible to map a Windows XP drive letter to a share on an FTP server,
via the FTP protocol?

Windows can browse an FTP server as though it were a local drive, so why not
map a drive letter?

No, but you can add it as a 'Network Place'.
That gives you some similar functionality to a mapped drive in terms of
drag-and-drop.

You won't however, be able to refer to it with a drive letter (
z:\some_directory\some_file ) or by UNC pathname (
\\some_server\some_directory\some_file ).

I often wondered why that function was not implimented too.
