Manually Deleting Outlook email

Using Outlook 2000 on XP Pro. Got an email msg titled
(e-mail address removed)-specialists.com subject: failure notice.
When I highlight it the lower part of the screen goes blank and Outlook stops
responding. Is there a way to manually delete this message. I can't even
highlight it without Outlook hanging up.

Turn off the preview pane before clicking the message? I'm pretty sure OL2k
could shut off the preview pane....
