Manually breaking a long URL for term-paper endnote

I'm writing a term paper with endnotes. When I copy/paste
a long URL into my Word document's endnote space (to cite
the source of my info.), it looks strange because the 1st
line of the endnote goes just half-way across the page;
the entire long URL is placed on the endnote's 2nd line.
I can't manually break up the URL, placing the first
section on the 1st line. Ideas?
