Manual Update Download

I downloaded and installed an optional update recommended by Windows updater.
I had a feeling that it didn't install correctly so I uninstalled it through
the control panel. I went back to Windows update and forced it to look for
new updates; however, the update does not re-appear. In the view update
history, it recognizes the update twice and indicates that it was installed
correctly.

I want a fresh install of the update. How do I remove from the two
notifications from the update history window. How do i manually download the
update from Microsoft. Do they have an ftp site?...thanks in advance...j

Clear your logs:
wuauclt.exe /clearlogfile

and then to find new updates

wuauclt.exe /DetectNow
