Manual Line Breaks, Deletion

When I copy from a PDF doc or the web and paste into a Word doc, I get a lot
of manual line breaks. They look on the screen like paragraph marks.
I then spend a lot of time manually deleting them.
Is there any way to delete or remove them automatically?

but none of the therein-described solutions worked. Neither the autoformat,
nor the replace function, nor the paste special function.
 
Searching for ^013 didn't help, either?
