Managed DirectX 2.0 ? (MDX2)

Does anyone have any information on when MDX2.0 will come out of Beta? It
seems like its been in Beta for a looong time...

Robert,

Unless that info has been released already (to my knowledge, it has
not), only MS can say. Everything else is conjecture.

There will be no such thing. Managed DirectX will be merged with and
replaced by the XNA Framework which serves both PC and Xbox 360.

Here's the relevant quote from the XNA FAQ (see below):

"Q: Will there be any more improvements to Managed DirectX 2.0?"

"A: The current Managed DirectX 2.0 beta libraries have been unchanged
since the April 2006 SDK release. There will be no further changes to
MDX 2.0 beta, nor will MDX 2.0 ever release officially. The MDX 2.0
assemblies will be removed from the DirectX SDK once the XNA Framework
beta is released."

No, MDX 2.0 will keep in beta until it be shipped as a component of XNA.
Please go through the roadmap comments in the DXSDK below:

Managed DirectX 2.0 Beta Update

Microsoft is working on a new managed gaming framework which will target
Windows and Xbox 360 known as the XNA Framework. The majority of what
exists today as the Managed DirectX 2.0 beta will become a key component of
the XNA Framework. The MDX 2.0 libraries will remain unchanged as of the
April 2006 SDK release and will continue to ship as a beta in DirectX SDK
releases until a beta of the XNA Framework is made available. While we are
striving to deliver a smooth transition from code written to use the
Managed DirectX 2.0 beta, Microsoft can make no guarantees about the API
compatibility between the Managed DirectX 2.0 beta and the upcoming
graphics API's in the XNA Framework. Microsoft will be providing guidance
about the API differences as well as migration assistance as more
information becomes available regarding the XNA Framework.
