My Dad (bless his no-computer sense soul) has Winsows XP and SBC Yahoo dial
up. Somewhere in the mix he has managed to try and fix an issue and probably
made it worse. And, because I work with a computer at work, I should know
how to fix it or how to find out how to. The issue: He logs on fine, Signs
in, It dials up, then he gets a window that he is connected, yet the actual
display window for Yahoo is no where to be found. If you click on the
network computer in the corner, you just connection details. If while
connected you try clicking on Yahoo icon or IE icon you get a "Page not
displayed" window. What could this be? What has he removed that he
shouldn't have? We have exhausted ALL efforts with SBC, and Yahoo, the only
thing left would be PC related.

Thanks for ANY help

Your Dad's PC might have been Hijacked by sometype of spyware program.
Since it is able to dial-up SBC but can not display Yahoo, this is leading
me to beleive that this is to case.

Run:

Ad Aware SE 1.05
Spybot: Search and Destroy 1.3
CWShredder

so as to remove the "most" common versions of spyware.

somhow He Set the Sucurity Too High..
or blocked it with a firewall!!

I experience the exact same effect when I block "svchost.exe"
(Generic Host Process for Windows32 Services) with my firewall,
ZoneAlarm. I can connect to my ISP via my modem just fine, but no
page will display in my browser. To browse, I must allow
"svchost.exe" to access the Internet.
