Is it safe to delete the host file in notepad as
instructed by the info that comes up when seeking a
search engine? What, problems if any, can happen if I
follow the path to delete host file.
start/accesories/notepad/file/open/c/windows/system
32/drivers/ets/host
then they say delete entire file or any ref. to a search
engine.
Is this safe and ok to do? What other problems may I
encounter if I do this? I have already run Spybot and
been able to get back to a couple of search engines, but
not all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

It won't hurt. Delete it to the RECYCLE BIN, where it can be restored if
necessary.

Use Windows FIND tool to locate HOSTS.SAM, and open it in Notepad. It
explains what HOSTS does.
