Hosts file

What if anything should be in your hosts file?
I have been having problems with intermittent loss of internet access. I
believe the problem arises because of all the entries that I allow Spybot to
add to the hosts file. When I deleted these entries from my HOSTS file
leaving it essentially an empty file my internet access works fine.
Now that I have deleted all these Spybot entries I wonder what if anything
should be in the hosts file.

The first three lines in mine is:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost

If you clear your hosts file of all but the first few lines and turn
OFF Spybot's immunization, that should do the trick.

Other than a lot of comments #### just one line is typical.

127.0.0.1 Localhost.
