Making the Slave drive a Master Drive

I have used fdisk on the slave drive and pulled it from the machine and put it into another, booted with 98 boot disk,and tried to install XP Pro from the CD-ROM. When I restarted the machine, the following happend:

Not ready reading drive A

Not ready reading drive A

Not ready reading drive A

Invalid COMMAND.COM
Enter correct name of COMMAND.COM(e.g. C:\COMMAND.COM)


What should I do?

Take the floppy out and boot from the CD

Put diskette back, boot into recovery console, run 'fixmbr', 'fixboot', and
ensure the partition is active and all the loader files and boot.ini exist.
Create bootable XP CD and re-run setup booting off CD.
