Hello,

Our CEO got a new laptop, his old Laptop had Outlook 2003, new one has
Outlook 2007.

2003 allowed him to not send/receive until he hit the button to do so, and
also would download messages every 5 minutes.

In Outlook 2007, the options are there but they are ignored. Do you know why
this is happening? More importantly, how do we get Outlook to honor these
'scheduled' settings?

The settings can be found at -
Outlook -> Tools -> Options -> Mail Setup tab -> Send Receive button ->
various check boxes here....
Also, the "Send immediately when connected" checkbox has been cleared on the
Mail Setup tab/dialog.

He doesn't like the answer of working in Offline mode. He asks why are
those options there, then?

Thanks,

Those options should indeed work as expected - UNLESS he has a
connection to Exchange Server. So... how does he connect to (or get)
his email? (What sort of account? - Tools, Account Settings, what does
it say in the "Type" column?)

Yes, it is Exchange.

Nevertheless, he wants to send / receive when he wants it to, not when it
wants to. Like it did in his Outlook 2003 client.

Do you think he had Outlook2003 configured as a POP account?

Thanks for your comments.

I do. When using an Exchange account, Exchange controls when delivery occurs,
not Outlook. Exchange pushes the notification to Outlook; Outlook doesn't
poll as for a POP account.
