Making Item as Read

R

Robert Cohen

Hi All,
Is there any way to automatically mark an item as read before it is deleted? Basically I view items in a preview pane and want to be able to delete them without having to open it up or marking as read first. The reason is that I have some bosses who send me e-mails and I read them and if I delete them, the bosses will recieve an "item deleted without being read" message.
I know I can set it to be marked as read when I go to the message, the problem is there are times I want to preview the message without "reading it". THat way it doesn't send a read reciept before I want it sent.

Btw, I use outlook 2002 sp2

I would say that you need to disable the "Always Send Responds" tracking
option then and set it to prompt you

yeah I had thought about that, but that only affects internet mail and not
mail within the network.

It effects all mail. Note that delivery and read requests are different from
eachother. You can control read receipts but the server controls the
delivery receipts.
