Making backup copy of my XP

When I bought my Toshiba notepad, my copy of windows XP Home edition was
already pre-installed. The registration key was on the sticker stuck to the
base of my laptop. However I received no windows XP CD to re-install it in
the event of things going wrong. I assumed I could just make my own copy by
burning it onto a CD/DVD. How do I do this though? Please help!

I've got the same problem. Toshiba XP home on a used laptop computer.
I need to rebuild it from scratch to get rid of the porn and partially
deleted applications. I've got no disks at all.
How can I rebuild an install disk?
Most of it is in the i386 directory. What else am I gonna need to copy
to the new install CD? I downloaded the hardware drivers from
toshiba...I think. The most obvious missing piece is setup.exe.

I have access to an XP Pro SP2 install disk, but I expect the "Home"
license key that's stuck on the machine ain't gonna work with that??
yes? no? If I can borrow a HOME install CD, will my Toshiba key work
with that??? OEM and bios linking issues?

Can I take my XP pro CD and replace the i386 directory with the i386
files off the laptop to create a usable (re)install CD for xphome on the
Toshiba?
Suggestions? What's the simplest LEGAL and FREE way to get back to
factory condition on my Toshiba laptop?

Toshiba is one of those companies that doesn't supply you with an actual XP
disk. They are supposed to include a recovery disk with their computers. If
you didn't get a recovery disk, call toshiba and ask for one. Depending on
how long you have had your computer, it may be free.

Is this another case of OEMs falling over themselves in ruthless
customer focussed delivery?

Or am I merely mistaken?

The only CD's I received with the laptop were a Microsoft Works 8 CD and one
with drivers for the DVD-ROM and acessories. Don't think it's that although
haven't yet checked the content. If it's not then I'll phone Toshiba and give
them some till I get the CD I need. Cheers bud.
