Making a website, not webpage

P

Paul Ferro

I have been working on a website for a while, and have created about 20
pages so far. I added the pages from the Navigation view, and use that view
to go between pages (I'm sure there is a much better way that I'm not aware
of) Anyway, my question is I want to make sure that I am creating a website
and not just a bunch of separate web pages. When I close FP, if I have made
changes to many different pages, it asks me individually if I would like to
save the changes for each page. Also, each page that I have created is
saved as a separate file. Is this how FP stores webpages? I guess I just
assumed that there would only be one file that you opened, saved, and so on,
with multiple pages within that file.

Thanks for your help - just want to make sure I'm not doing all this work
now and then I have to do it over the right way!!!

It's not unusual for FP to ask you if you want to save the pages, if they
were left opened. However, all your web files should be inside of a folder
that has a little globe on it. If you open FP then File | Open Site and open
the Site on your local machine you should see all your webfiles in the
left-hand pane that says; Folder List at the top.

The top folder, the root folder will be something like:
http://localhost/somewebnamehere if you have IIS running on your machine.
or
C:\My Documents\My Webs\somewebnamehere
under these you would see other folders, some you created and some FP
creates, and also your page files.
