Problems view my page & Not able to publish selected pages

my website was working fine until i tried fixing the navigation link menu.
The page used to look fine on my FP and the website, but then it only looked
correct on FP. the website did not display the menus. I tried to fix the
problem on FP, but now I can not even see the pages. When I select the page
I only can see the Web site tab which views the remote server. I can not see
the pages and therefore can not edit my pages. I also cannot select a page
to publish.

When I select the File from the menu, the following items are greyed out.
New, Save, Save As, Publish site, Import or print.

I would assume that the properties have changed, but I'm not sure what I
need to change.

It sounds like you are not working with the web site opened first.
Open FP
File | Open Site
then browse to the Site you created...you did create a web SITE
first...right? If not, you are just working with a "loose" page.

btw. I have been working with this site for nearly a year, and it has been
fine. It just now started to give me problems. The Theme doesn't work
either, I just get a blank white background. I believe I may have stuffed
something when I was cleaning the site. But I can not even start a new site
to see if that is the problem.

It has menus on the left and the background is white with soft colour images.

are you sure you are publishing to taliasuh subweb correctly?...the theme
you are using is not what's up on the server...the server shows "sky" but
your not using that. since the fpse are not available on your web maybe
you're not uploading all the files that you should be.

also there's about 100 <center></center> tags that are completely
empty...not needed.

The problem is that I can publish it properly. It used to work about a week
ago, but now what I publish doesn't seem to update to the server correctly.
The file seems to be updated " date and size" but when I look at the page via
the web it looks wrong. But my real problem at the moment is that I cann't
even view the pages in FP anymore to check and update them.

Is there somekind of properties that I should be looking for in FP to check
why I can not see any pages in FP. I don't understand why I can't see
anything in FP except the Web Site TAB that lets me look at the folder list
on my PC and the Remote Server, I can also click on the bottom of that tab
and see the Navigation and other options, but nothing else.

BTW, I did change the theme, it's not SKY, i think it was called motion or
something. I can't check the page setting.

BTW, The theme is not SKY anymore, I changed it to Motion (i think I can't
remember, and I can't check it at the moment in FP).

It "modular" theme.

You have two nearly identical subwebs taliasuh and talz, is that
intentional?

Are you using Frontpad /Frontpage Express? Doesn't look like Frontpage.

How are you publishing the web from your local machine to the server?

Trying to figure out what you're doing, you have several subwebs and no
index page in the root so everything is browsable.

Hi Rob,

The sad thing is that I am using Frontpage 2003. I use FP Publishing via
Publish Site.
I used to be able to right click the file and then publish selected file,
but now it is greyed out. I published it from my Local machine to the website.

It used to work before, but for some reason it is not working anymore.

The reason I have more than one site is because I tried to create another
site to see if there was a problem with the original one.


I don't have a main website in the www.algpromotions.com, but only have sub
websites. I also spoke to my website provider and they reloaded the
Frontpage extensions, that seem to have fixed the menus and theme. So the
website is working. But I am still having problems with Frontpage and
editing the pages.
I also checked on another PC and they can see the website. I'm not sure why
you can't see the site.

Can you tell me whether you still can not see the pages. I still need to
fix the Work Experience pg as it doesn't have the menus, but that will have
to wait until I/we can get Frontpage to work properly.

Got any ideas?

are going to be deleted.

not sure why www.talz.algpromotions.com is getting some other site and not
my girls. I keep getting some gambling site.

I can see the site.

If it were my site I would delete all the subwebs and publish your
daughter's site directly to www.algpromotions.com not the subweb. Right now
if you have no index or default page on algpromotions.com so everything in
that folder is browsable.

You are probably having your problems not seeing the site in FP because you
have to open the subwebs from within the main web and then publish to the
subweb from that second instance of FP that opens when you open a subweb. It
can get confusing!

the website is kinda ok at the moment. My problem is that I can not see any
pages in Frontpage. I can't even open a different site and work on it.
I can not view the pages. I can't even create a new page or website within
Frontpage.

Is there somekind of setting I can look at in FP that needs to be changed?

I agree I need to cleanup the website on the server, but that will have to
wait until I can fix Frontpage.

Opening a new page:
1. Open Frontpage
2. Select File from the top menu then New (can't select New, it is greyed out)
end

Edit any existing page:
1. Open Site
2. Select page from folder list, then double click the page to open it.
Nothing happens except that the Web Site Tab goes blank.
OR
2. Select page from the folder list, then select View, Page from the Menu.
Nothing happens except that the Web Site Tab goes blank.

I have been using FP for a number of years, so I have a good understanding
of the software. I'm not an advanced user, but know how to use the software.
I have looked at all the properties, but can't find out what has changed.

Well sorta.

Open FP
File | Open Site
open your local site
your subwebs should appear in the file list as a folder with a globe on it
(your daughter's subweb should be there)
to open your daughter's subweb web double click on it and it should open in
a second instance of FP
to add a new page to that web you'd File | New Page (blah blah blah)
