Making a test environment for AD

Hello,
I was wondering if there is a way to setup a test lab that
would have all the AD information and would not be
connected to the network. All that I am concerned with
restoring is our child domain. I guess my question is, is
it possible to restore our child domain without having the
rest of the forest involved in the process?

There are a number of good works on how to build a test network in the
Windows Server 2003 Deployment Guide. You might also want to dig through
Microsoft Patterns and Practices
(http://www.microsoft.com/resources/practices/default.mspx).

It is possible to restore a child domain, but clearly the root domain will
have to be involved.
