Hello!

In a small office LAN there two PCs, one running WinXP and the other
Win2000. On the Win2000 box i used to have a folder shared and the
permissions were set to "everyone" and everyone had full control of that
folder. I changed that permission options, and set the folder shared
only to a group that indicates the LAN users. Now every time i try to
view the folder from the WinXP machine i get an error that i have no
permission to do so. Is there a way to force WinXP to ask me for a
password in order to open that folder?

Thanks in advance!

Have you created a user on the Windows 2000 computer with the same username
(and password, if one is used) that matches the logon name (and password, if
one is used) on the Windows XP computer?

It's possible that XP is using a saved password that's no longer
valid. To remove it:

1. Go to Control Panel | User Accounts.
2. Click your account.
3. Click "Manage my network passwords".
4. If the other computer appears in the list, click it and
click Remove.

Well no! But i have created an account on the Win2000 computer that is
to be used only by the WinXP box. What i'm trying to do is to make WinXP
to ask me for a username and a password in order to view the others'
computer shared folders.

Thank you. I will try that first thing on Monday morning and I'll report
back.
